Respect can’t be expected. //Day 1044

A lot of people get this wrong. They start expecting to be respected. Completely forgetting the fact that respect is only given, never expected.

People start expecting respect when they carry an inflated sense of self. Or based on their financial, social status in society. But none of that means you can start expecting to be given respect wherever you go.

It is up to the other person how much they want to respect you. Noone but only that person can determine this.

Respect can only be earned, not expected and never demanded. Respect is just the byproduct of the good deeds you do, so focus on that instead.
